DOUGLAS KNOX

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Douglas Knox was born in Seattle and raised in Kelso, a small town in Southwest Washington State. After a few years in Seattle, he spent nearly a decade in Portland, Oregon studying to be a screenwriter and directing short films. After optioning his first feature script ("Greatest Hits") and shooting his first major production ("Conversation Piece"), he landed a development deal with USA Networks to produce a half hour action comedy show that was to star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson ("Bulletproof"). The show was cancelled before the pilot was ever shot.

With over 25 feature film screenplays to his name and another dozen television series, Douglas embarked on writing the series "afraid." In 2007, he cast the entire show and conducted a series of table reads, all while writing a second and third season of the show (36 episodes in all). When he stopped the table reads after season 2, he outlined the final arcs of the characters and tried to decide his next move. Acting on the advice of a friend, he began novelizing the first season, turning each episode into its own individual book. This task took the better part of a year and he has already begun the adaption of the second season.

Currently, he and his producing partner, Sean Robinson, are working on recasting the series with the intent of shooting a broadcast quality version of the first and second episodes with the idea of shopping the series to HBO, Showtime, AMC or FX.
